The CZ BREN 2 Ms Carbine is a semi-automatic rifle manufactured by Česká zbrojovka. The model was developed for the civilian market and is based on the BREN 2 family, military variants of which are used by armed forces and special units in several countries.

CZ BREN 2 Ms Carbine

The Carbine version features a 16.5-inch barrel, distinguishing it from the more compact models in the BREN 2 Ms series. According to the manufacturer, this version is particularly well suited to sport and recreational shooting, as well as accurate shooting at longer distances.

The rifle uses a short-stroke gas piston system. The upper receiver is made from durable 7075 aluminium alloy, while the cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined barrel is designed for long service life. The manufacturer states a barrel life of 20,000 rounds.

The BREN 2 Ms Carbine features a folding and adjustable stock as well as ambidextrous controls, making it suitable for both right- and left-handed shooters. A Picatinny rail along the top allows compatible optics and other accessories to be mounted.

A civilian model with military roots

The CZ BREN 2 Ms Carbine available at Rata Academy is not a military rifle, but a semi-automatic model manufactured for the civilian market.

Its design is based on the CZ BREN 2 family, developed by Česká zbrojovka for professional use. The military BREN 2 is capable of automatic fire and is produced in configurations that differ from the civilian BREN 2 Ms Carbine.

The CZ BREN 2 is part of the armament of the Czech Armed Forces, and Czech soldiers have also used it in Afghanistan. During the later stages of the Czech deployment in Afghanistan, the BREN 2 gradually replaced the earlier CZ 805 BREN.

The BREN 2 is also used by the Hungarian Defence Forces. The rifles are manufactured in Hungary through cooperation between Colt CZ Group and the Hungarian state, and the BREN 2 is now part of the country's standard military armament.

The BREN 2 platform is also used by GIGN, the elite tactical unit of the French National Gendarmerie, whose responsibilities include counter-terrorism operations and hostage situations. The use of the BREN 2 by GIGN has been documented in an official Colt CZ Group annual report.

These applications refer to military and law-enforcement variants of the CZ BREN 2, not the BREN 2 Ms Carbine available at Rata Academy. However, the models belong to the same BREN 2 family.
