A firearm should always be cleaned according to the manufacturer’s instructions, using the correct tools and cleaning products. When cleaning, it is important to pay attention not only to the barrel, bolt and action, but also to smaller components such as the firing mechanism and feeding mechanisms, where dirt and carbon residue can easily accumulate. Powder residue and moisture in particular can cause corrosion over time and reduce the firearm’s reliability.

For safety reasons, cleaning should only be carried out with the firearm completely unloaded, with ammunition kept separately and the safety engaged. Rata Academy has designated safe and appropriate cleaning areas where firearm maintenance can be carried out neatly and efficiently.
